Carly is currently offering four-week cycles of pre-registered sessions to students who feel drawn to deepen their personal practice and move beyond traditionally structured drop-in classes. These small gatherings provide an intimate space for the transmission of in-depth teachings, the cultivation of a consistent practice, and the intentional development of sangha, a community of practitioners.
The Monday evening session is a two-hour practice composed of a longer mindful yin sequence to nourish connective tissues and to cleanse the meridian system, and finally a 20-minute seated meditation practice. Readings and audio lectures shared with each practice group encourage and support the exploration of mindfulness within the context of everyday life.
The Tuesday morning session is a fresh, dynamic, and contemporary class that merges Yin Yoga and Qi Gong. Designed to cultivate an even deeper experience of the body’s energetic system, this class begins with an inspired, mindfulness-based Yin practice before moving into a standing Qi Gong series. Where Yin Yoga facilitates a contemplative, restorative pause, Qi Gong offers an energizing practice that focuses on purifying, tonifying, and regulating the subtle body. The two arts complement each other in their devotion to healing the body, training the mind and opening the heart, which allows for an integration that feels natural and harmonizing. The class closes with meditation and participants leave with a felt sense of their true nature.
Classes are held at the Heart of the Village Yoga, 2186 Oak Bay Avenue #206 (above Ivy's Bookstore). Currently, Monday evening classes from 7-9pm are being offered, as well as a Tuesday morning classes from 10:30am-12:30pm.
